My husband’s mistress ruined my hairstyle to embarrass me. I looked in the mirror, stayed calm, and called my CEO husband. “You have five minutes,” I said. “Ask her to come apologize or everything changes today.”

PART 1 — THE FIVE-MINUTE WARNING
My name is Sarah Sterling, and the day I walked into my husband’s office unannounced was the day my marriage finally ended.

Julian Sterling was the CEO of a nationwide logistics company. To everyone else, he was polished, successful, and generous. At home, however, he had become distant. Late meetings turned into overnight trips, and every conversation felt colder than the last.

I suspected there was another woman, but I had no proof.

Then one afternoon, I brought lunch to his office.

When I entered the executive suite, I found his assistant, Victoria Vance, sitting behind Julian’s desk wearing his suit jacket while he stood beside her laughing.

The moment they saw me, the room went silent.

“Sarah,” Julian said quickly. “This isn’t what it looks like.”

“Then explain it.”

Victoria stood and walked toward me.

“You should stop pretending you’re still his wife.”

I ignored her.

I looked at Julian.

“Are you going to say anything?”

He looked away.

That silence told me everything.

I turned to leave, but Victoria followed me, still provoking me. The confrontation escalated far beyond words, and by the time security arrived, I was standing in the executive restroom staring at myself in disbelief.

Most of my hair had been cut away unevenly.

Victoria stood several feet behind me while security tried to understand what had happened.

Julian rushed inside.

For one second, I expected him to ask whether I was okay.

Instead, he looked at Victoria.

“What were you thinking?”

She shrugged.

“I did it for us.”

That sentence ended something inside me.

I walked past both of them without shouting.

Outside, I sat in my car and stared at my reflection in the rearview mirror.

Then I called Julian.

“You have five minutes.”

“What?”

“Bring Victoria to my attorney’s office.”

He laughed nervously.

“Sarah, stop being dramatic.”

“This is your last chance to make this right.”

He assumed I wanted an apology.

He assumed I would calm down.

He assumed that, like every other time, I would eventually return home and accept whatever explanation he gave me.

Then he hung up.

Seconds later, a message from my attorney, Eleanor Hayes, appeared on my screen.

**The emergency injunction has been approved. We’re ready.**

Julian had no idea that while he had been building another life behind my back, I had quietly protected myself.

Six months earlier, I had invested inheritance money from my late father into Sterling Logistics and acquired a six-percent voting interest.

Julian knew I owned shares.

He simply never believed I would use the rights that came with them.

Now I intended to.

His five minutes expired.

And so did my patience.
