When I looked in the mirror and saw my head, I didn’t scream. I calmly picked up my phone and called my CEO husband. “You have five minutes,” I said. “Tell your mistress to come here, apologize for what she did, or your entire world ends today.”

The truth was, my call to Daniel had almost nothing to do with revenge.

It was about accountability.

Six months before the incident, I had quietly purchased a minority stake in Daniel’s company using inheritance money from my late father.

The investment had been properly documented, and under the shareholder agreement, I had the legal right to inspect certain corporate records and attend shareholder meetings.

Daniel knew I owned shares.

He simply never believed I would become actively involved.

After the assault, my attorney, Rebecca Lawson, advised me to report everything immediately.

Police documented my injuries, photographed my shaved head, collected surveillance footage from the office hallway, and interviewed employees who had heard me screaming inside the restroom.

Vanessa was arrested later that evening on charges related to the assault.

Meanwhile, Rebecca focused on another issue.

“Daniel may not have committed the assault,” she explained, “but there may be serious corporate governance concerns if company resources were being misused.”

Over the following weeks, we lawfully requested records tied to executive expense accounts and business travel.

The documents showed that Daniel had repeatedly approved costly trips, luxury dinners, and hotel stays where Vanessa accompanied him without any legitimate business purpose.

Several board members were stunned.

None of them had known about the relationship.

An independent review was authorized.

Daniel insisted the expenses were legitimate.

But emails, calendar entries, and travel records suggested otherwise.

At the same time, the criminal case against Vanessa moved forward.

She eventually accepted responsibility for assaulting me after security footage and witness testimony left little room for dispute.

During one shareholder meeting, Daniel tried to defend himself.

“This is a private marital matter.”

A board member answered calmly.

“It stopped being private when company funds may have been involved.”

Within two months, the board voted to place Daniel on administrative leave while outside auditors completed their review.

The local business press reported the leadership change, though the investigation itself remained confidential.

Daniel called me again and again.

“I’ll end everything with Vanessa.”

“I’ll resign if that’s what you want.”

“I’ll do anything.”

For the first time in years, I did not feel angry.

I simply felt finished.

When Rebecca placed the finalized divorce petition in front of me, she asked,

“Are you ready?”

I signed without hesitation.
