5    Cheap and Effective Tips to Keep Your Bathroom Tiles Clean and Shiny

Bathroom tiles can quickly become one of the hardest areas to keep clean in any home. With constant exposure to moisture, soap residue, and humidity, tiles often develop mold, dirt buildup, and yellow stains over time. Not only does this make your bathroom look less appealing, but it can also create hygiene issues if left untreated. The good news is that you don’t need expensive products or professional services to maintain sparkling tiles. With a few simple and affordable methods, you can keep your bathroom looking fresh and clean.

Here are five cheap and practical tips to help you restore and maintain the shine of your bathroom tiles.

1. Use Vinegar for Natural Deep Cleaning

White vinegar is one of the most effective and affordable cleaning agents you can find. It works especially well on bathroom tiles because it can dissolve soap scum, mineral deposits, and mild mold.

To use vinegar, mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution generously onto the tiles and let it sit for about 10–15 minutes. This allows the vinegar to break down the dirt and grime. Then, scrub the surface with a sponge or brush and rinse with warm water.

For tougher stains, you can use undiluted vinegar, but be careful if your tiles are made of natural stone like marble, as vinegar can damage them.

2. Baking Soda for Stubborn Stains

Baking soda is another inexpensive household item that works wonders for cleaning. It is slightly abrasive, making it perfect for scrubbing away tough stains without scratching most tile surfaces.

To create a cleaning paste, mix baking soda with a small amount of water until it forms a thick consistency. Apply the paste directly onto stained or yellowed areas, especially grout lines, which tend to trap dirt. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then scrub gently using a toothbrush or small brush.

For even better results, you can combine baking soda with vinegar. Apply baking soda first, then spray vinegar on top to create a fizzing reaction that helps lift dirt more effectively.
