Joel dropped to his knees grabbing handfuls of bills while Ernesto shouted at him to stop.
One of the wives began crying hysterically.
Another started accusing me of stealing.
But none of them had seen the letter.

And that was when Ernesto noticed the envelope still clutched tightly in my hand.
His face darkened instantly.
“What’s that?”
I stepped backward.
“Tatay’s letter.”
“To YOU?” Joel barked.
I nodded slowly.
The hatred in their eyes changed instantly into something worse.
Fear.
Because deep down…
they already knew what kind of father they had abandoned.
And what kind of man he would reward in the end.
Ernesto held out his hand.
“Give me the letter.”
“No.”
His jaw tightened.
“You think you deserve this after marrying into the family?”
Before I could answer, a new voice suddenly echoed from the front gate.
