Just somewhere safe.
Whenever I happen to see it, I remember how strangely ordinary everything looked before that morning.
A quiet neighborhood.
A meticulously maintained lawn.
An angry neighbor.
And one freshly painted dark-green door.
I thought I was dealing with nothing more than a ridiculous HOA feud.
I had no idea that behind the house next door, beneath a blue tarp in a carefully locked garage, was the answer to a mystery a grieving family had been waiting almost a year to solve.
And it all came into view because one police officer looked at my doorbell footage and said:
“Wait. Go back.”
