No recording alone proved every crime.
Together, they revealed months of calculated exploitation.
Margaret stepped forward.
“The notebook documents dates, conversations, medication changes, and repeated attempts to force Clara into signing trust modifications while she was physically weakened.”
The forensic accountant opened several financial records.
“The USB drive contains pharmacy logs, access histories, trust documentation, deleted emails, and account activity that independently corroborate the timeline documented by Mrs. Vance.”
One by one, the investors standing beside Elliot slowly stepped away.
His attorney rose from his chair.
“Elliot…”
“Say something!”
His attorney slowly closed his briefcase.
“I can’t.”
“You represent me.”
“I represented you.”
The distinction hung heavily in the air.
“You lied to my office.”
He removed his attorney badge from his jacket.
“I’m withdrawing effective immediately.”
Elliot looked around desperately.
No one came to his defense.
Brielle stared at him.
“What are they talking about?”
He reached for her hand.
“They’re twisting everything.”
She pulled away.
“Did you do this?”
“It’s complicated.”
“No.”
Her voice grew louder.
“It’s actually very simple.”
She looked toward Nora.
Then toward the investigators.
Finally back at Elliot.
“Did you manipulate your dying wife for money?”
He couldn’t answer.
That silence told her everything.
With shaking hands, Brielle removed her engagement ring.
The diamond landed at Elliot’s feet.
“I almost married you.”
She tore away her veil.
“I don’t even know who you are.”
Without another word, she walked down the aisle and out of the ballroom.
No one tried to stop her.
The lead investigator approached Elliot once more.
“Elliot Vance.”
He produced a pair of handcuffs.
“You are under arrest.”
This time, Elliot didn’t argue.
He didn’t run.
