Having body hair is natural, but it can still be quite bothersome, especially when it appears in specific areas like the fingers and toes. Where does it come from? Can it be removed? A dermatologist shares her advice with Femme Actuelle.
Hair grows everywhere, and when we say everywhere, we mean it!
Hair on legs, thighs, underarms, or the bikini line can sometimes be a real nuisance, but these aren’t the only places where unwanted hair can be a problem. It can also appear around the mouth, on the chin, and even on the stomach—places where we’d rather do without it, even though its presence is completely normal. Now let’s add hair on fingers and toes to that list!
Hair on feet and hands, whether dark or thick depending on the person, can sometimes cause feelings of insecurity, though it’s not uncommon. While some are lucky enough to have none at all, wait until you discover the purpose of those hairs! Drum roll, please: hair on your toes and fingers… “serves no purpose,” explains dermatologist Dr. Nina Roos. In fact, “it’s probably just tiny remnants of our animal nature,” the expert adds. But why do some people have more of it than others? “It’s really genetic and familial,” says the dermatologist. While it’s not mandatory to remove it, it can be removed, but carefully—not just any way.
